What is Chemical Peeling ?

A chemical peel removes the outer layers of the skin. This freshens the skin leaving it more radiant, removes some sun spots and rough scaly patches, can reduce freckles and irregular pigmentation and reduce fine wrinkles, though deeper lines will remain. It does not tighten sagging skin, stimulate collagen production or remove broken capillaries. Chemical peeling is not appropriate for people who will continue to have excessive sun exposure.

The treatment

A single chemical peel will improve the skin texture, but a course of four peels is recommended to achieve a truly noticeable improvement followed by single treatments thereafter. Use of high factor sunscreen to the face will maintain the skin's radiance. At least a week should be left between each of the initial treatments.
Clients are seated and the skin is thoroughly cleaned. A pre peel ointment (determined by your skin type) is applied, left for two minutes and removed. The peel is then applied and left on the skin for the appropriate time. During this time the skin will tingle and feel warm. The warmth will be reduced by use of a fan. The peel is removed thoroughly, cleaned and a nourishing soothing ointment applied. Within ten minutes any tingling will have disappeared. A slight whiteness may be visible on the face. This should be left for a few hours. The skin can then be cleansed with water or a gentle cleanser and an aqueous cream applied. Continue with this regime for 2-3 days. You will be provided with aqueous cream and an aftercare instruction leaflet.
